Here are the top 5 things to focus on:
How to Choose Your Lifestyle Newborn Photographer
In part 2 of this series, we are going into all the details around pricing, client reviews, and what you should consider before choosing your session location. This is a big investment and you don’t get another chance at your baby being a newborn!
Pricing and Packages
Price is always a factor, but remember that this moment happens once in a lifetime and you don’t get a do-over on your baby being a newborn. Generally, a more expensive photographer has more experience, knows how to guide their client, and is set up as a real business. Side note: If they are not charging sales tax, they are not a legitimate business.
This person is going to become a part of your family for a few hours and your images will be treasured for years to come. Price is always a factor, but if you find a photographer that you LOVE, it may be worth spending a little extra to get what you want. If you are interested in discussing payment plan options, please reach out! I have lots of options to make your newborn photo session work for you.
Don’t forget to check what is included with your session price! All of my newborn sessions include an online gallery where you can download ALL your digital files along with a print release. I also offer print and keepsake products but these are always optional with no required purchase minimums. Make sure you know exactly what your photographer offers in their pricing structure to avoid any bad surprises.
Testimonials and Client Reviews of your Lifestyle Newborn Photographer
Don’t just take their word for it – do a little research on your photographer! Most photographers have ratings on social media and client testimonials that you can check out. Take a look at what past clients have to say about their experience and compare that to what you are looking for.
Session Location: In-Home vs Studio vs Outdoors
Does it sound easier to load up your brand new baby and take them to a photography studio or would you rather stay home and have the photographer come to you? I love in-home lifestyle newborn photography sessions because that is where your baby feels the most comfortable and your family spends the most time. This gives us the most authentic representation of your family welcoming home your new baby. Also, do you have a super cute nursery you want to be included in the photos?!
If you don’t feel comfortable with a photographer in your home, other options are photography studios or even outdoors. With safety concerns around social distancing, an outdoor newborn session might be the best option for you. We just want to be mindful of the temperature and make sure your baby stays comfortable while outdoor.
If you are expecting a new baby and think we would be the right fit for each other, I’d love to send you more information and set-up a phone or email consultation!
