5 Tips to Make Your Fall Mini Session Stress-Free | Plano Mini Sessions

It’s mini-session season! These are 20-30 minute sessions mainly with the purpose of updating your family photos and holiday cards. It is the perfect chance to catch up with your favorite photographer without booking a full 1-hour session. Plano mini sessions are scheduled throughout the Fall.

If you haven’t reserved your mini session yet, check out all the available dates for the Dallas area here. Austin mini sessions are also available on October 22nd and 23rd. Contact Erica Grandin Photography for more details!

  1. Book Early
  2. Choose Mom’s Outfit First (and Early)
  3. Have Fun
  4. Build in Extra Time
  5. Don’t Tell Your Kids to Say “Cheese”
  1. Book Early
Photographer’s schedules fill up fast in the Fall. Typically you will only see a few specific dates available for mini sessions. Be sure to grab your time slot early so you aren’t stuck with a date that doesn’t work that well for your family.

  2. Choose Mom’s Outfit First (and Early)
Mom, this is your time to shine. You put in the effort to organize the family, schedule the session, and choose everyone’s outfits. YOU should feel beautiful and confident. Treat yourself with a new outfit for yourself and then coordinate everyone else’s clothing around you.

  3. Have Fun
Make sure your family knows this should be fun! Even Dad doesn’t need to dread family photos. We will get a few shots of everyone sitting and smiling at the camera, but we will also play games, have tickle wars, and let your personality shine.

  4. Build in Extra Time
Give yourself extra time and plan to arrive at your session early. Don’t stress yourself out by needing to rush. Mini sessions are scheduled back to back and you only have your specific time slot for your photos. If you are late, it will cut into your session time and we won’t get as many amazing photos. Arrive early and spend a few minutes sitting in your air conditioned car before we start.

  1. Don’t tell your kids to say “Cheese”
PLEASE! When a kid says Cheese, they get a fake smile and look like they are in pain. Instead, make funny faces behind the camera or give them a little tickle. Tell them a joke or promise a treat after the photos. Whatever it takes to make them relax and get them to laugh! No matter what, adults keep smiling because once the kids are happy then I’ll be snapping away behind the camera.
