As a Dallas baby photographer, I have the most amazing experiences with Dallas Moms as they navigate this new world with their little babies. Becoming a Mom for the first time changes everything. Your entire world is turned upside down and will never be the same again. But there is a whole new struggle that you go through as siblings join your family.

I have two older boys, ages 5 and 2.5 years old. The 5-year-old understands what it means for a new baby to join our family because he remembers his little brother being born. But the 2.5-year-old really has no idea what to expect!

A few things I am doing to help ease the transition:

• Involving the older boys in my pregnancy by feeling the baby kick, giving him a nickname, and talking about the baby as much as we can. 
  
• Reading lots of books about being a big brother.
  
• Talking about all the ways my older boys can help Mommy with the baby like getting diapers and making the baby laugh.
  
• Planning a few small gifts for the baby to “give” his big brothers when he comes home from the hospital.
  

Big Brother Turns 5 | Dallas Baby Photographer

Speaking of becoming a big brother, this guy below is about to be a big brother for the second time! He is already an amazing brother to his 2.5-year-old little brother and he is really excited to be Mommy’s helper when his baby brother arrives in the next few weeks (or days)! You can for sure count on seeing an overload of baby photos on my Instagram because as a Dallas baby photographer, I won’t be able to help myself!

Dallas Baby Photographer Welcomes New Baby Boy

In the final countdown to this baby boy’s arrival, I am trying my very best to be intentional with the time I have with my older kids. I want them to know they are always loved and make them feel special. I want them to be excited for the new baby and not resentful. I know their lives are being changed along with mine, but I can only hope that it will be for the better!
